Capt. Maria Irizarry
« on: May 26, 2008, 09:20:00 AM »

The Grieving Center would like to send a special thanks to The Heidi Paoli Fund for making this video possible.

Capt. Maria Irizarry, RN is both a intensive care unit nurse familiar with all aspects of palliative care and a Captain in the U.S. Army reserve. As part of our honoring of Memorial Day we are presenting this short segment where she describes dealing with the pressures and emotions of war and the loss of a loved one.

Very sad, yet poignant and appropriate to this Memorial Day when we tend to forget there are still military and civilian lives lost daily in Iraq. This is a very well produced video of Capt. Irizarry's  story -- one that we would not usually read in newspapers or see on TV.  Thank you for bringing her saga to our attention.
